Laser Engraving
Double H Gunsmithing laser engraves steel and aluminum at our shop in Blanch, North Carolina. That covers firearm parts and other steel or aluminum pieces you bring in for a simple mark or short message.
We only laser engrave steel and aluminum. We do not engrave other materials. Cerakoted steel (including stainless barrels finished in Cerakote) is fine when the laser can cut cleanly through the coating to the metal.
Engraving is done on our OmTech 50W galvo fiber laser.
We do not currently have a way to rotate barrels in the machine, so we can only engrave flat sections: a receiver side plate, or along the center line of a barrel (and similar flat or near-flat areas that sit still under the laser).
We use LightBurn as our engraving management software. You are welcome to bring your own LightBurn-ready files for upload.
The examples above were engraved into Cerakoted stainless steel barrels as part of rebarreling jobs.
What we do
- Laser engrave short text and simple messages on steel or aluminum
- Mark names, initials, dates, barrel info, and similar straightforward lettering
- Engrave on flat sections such as receiver side plates or the center line of a barrel
- Engrave other steel or aluminum items that fit the machine and present a flat work surface
More complex artwork, logos, or layouts that need design time are estimated separately after we see what you want.
Pricing
- Simple messages: fixed fee of $40
That $40 covers a straightforward short message on steel or aluminum. Larger jobs and complex graphics are estimated for the work involved. Prices assume payment by cash or check unless we note otherwise. Lead times follow our general repair windows on the home page lead times table unless we give a different estimate for your job.
What to bring
Bring the steel or aluminum item fully unloaded if it is a firearm or firearm part. Have the exact wording ready (spelling, capitalization, and any punctuation). If you are not sure the part will fit or take a laser mark well, call or text first and we will tell you.
