Shotgun Optic Installation

Double H Gunsmithing installs optics on shotguns at our shop in Blanch, North Carolina. Common jobs include drilling and tapping a receiver or barrel for a red-dot mount, installing a Picatinny or similar rail, and mounting the optic you bring.

Related work lives on our Scope Mounting and Boresighting page for rifle scopes, our Mauser Scope Installation page for Mauser optics packages, our Custom Picatinny and Scout Rails page for a rail built and bedded to a rifle, and on Shotgun Choke Threading for muzzle work. Back to all Services.

What we do

  • Drill and tap for shotgun red-dot and optic mounts when the receiver or rib allows
  • Install customer-supplied rails and mounts (Picatinny and similar)
  • Mount and align the optic you bring

Bring the mount and optic whenever you can. Maker prices for rails, plates, and optics are outside shop control and are not published here. We will confirm whether your shotgun can take the mount you want before we cut metal.

Pricing

  • Shotgun optic installation labor: starting around $80 when you supply the mount and optic

That figure is an estimate from similar past jobs and can vary with drill-and-tap difficulty, rail fitting, and related prep. Unusual receivers or extra machining are estimated separately. Prices assume payment by cash or check unless we note otherwise. Lead times follow our general repair windows on the home page lead times table unless we give a different estimate for your job.

What to bring

Bring the shotgun fully unloaded. Bring the mount, rail, or base you want installed, plus the optic. If you already have a mounting kit for your model, bring the full kit so we can match hardware and hole pattern.

Getting started
